Next Race Date April 13, 2019 (See Full Calendar)
Location Kathmandu Valley
Organized by Trail Running Nepal (Mira Rai)
Contact / 9801151533 (Anuj)

  • 10 trail running races per year of around 4-8 and 8-16 km distance.
  • To be held in the Kathmandu Valley in green places outside the ring road, on foot trails and quiet jeep tracks away from pitch roads and traffic.
  • Races will be accessible by public transport (plus a short walk).
  • The races will be run as a series to encourage exciting competition, and for people to return to collect points. Runners’ best 6 results count towards the final series.
  • One or two races will have 20% extra points, and decide the final results.

10 races in the series will allow us to invest in equipment for 10 races rather than one. Reusable, durable banners for the race and for sponsors, portable registration tables, fixable route marking signs and markers.

The series will dovetail into existing races, to support other race organisers and other locations, and not to overlap and compete.

The races will aim to encourage contact with nature, face challenge, and give a platform for talent.

The race series will have to be lean, to stretch limited resources along the year. The usual heavy focus on prizes for the winners will have to be diluted to provide the best experience possible for all competitors – for the 99% not the 1% of winners. Great prizes will come at the end of the series and award those who’ve shown commitment the series and who race and score points often.

From a sponsors point of view, being a series means exposure is carried throughout the year – post race results reporting and social media activity followed closely by pre-race build up.

Mira Rai, though cannot be present for every race, will be the figurehead and energy behind the series.

A dedicated course-marking team and start-finish race base team will be in place to make the experience professional for all participants, and reflect well on the sponsors. No runner will loose the way, and the entry process will be smooth and efficient, and a repeatable experience in every race event.

Access to all

Many who are keen to run and compete don’t have access to cash. They may be studying, or only making ends meet. We need to give these boys and girls a chance. We will give a fixed number of free passes to a number of young people who apply so they can attend a certain number of events. Their entry will be subsidised through higher fees for working, middle class and foreign runners.

Mira is currently looking for a title sponsor to lead the series.

  • Name given to the series, ie. [Your Name] Trail Race series
  • Logo prominent on all banners
  • Send designated representative to start the race and present awards
  • Logo on race photos that we post to social media
  • Your #hashtag on photo descriptions posted to Mira Rai’s 170,000 followers on Facebook and Instagram, collectively
